Academic Planning for Military Families

As you begin your academic planning for your child, you are encouraged to reach out to the guidance department at your child's school or you can also contact the Office of Student Services at 393-8354. 

Ahead of these conversations, though, please note the following offerings in Portsmouth Public Schools: 

-All of Portsmouth’s high schools are accredited by the Virginia Department of Education’s Standards of Learning.
-Each Portsmouth Public School high schools offers industry certification opportunities that allow students to prepare for future careers and workplace success while still in high school.
-Manor High School offers the following programs: Culinary Arts, Early Childcare, Nursing, Pharmacy Tech.
-Norcom High School offers the following programs: Medical Sciences, Cosmetology, Nail Tech, TV Production, Cybersecurity, Sports Medicine.
-Churchland High School offers the division’s Horticulture program and the Visual and Performing Arts Academy.
-PPS students can also take part in the ongoing partnership with the Portsmouth campus of Tidewater Community College, which provides students additional workforce skills and credentials (i.e., welding and Auto CAD) as well as college credit for dual enrollment courses.
